The RCCM Transformation Center will be hosting it’s 2nd annual Day of Care and it promises to be the biggest year yet!

On Saturday May 31st, from 1 PM to 5 PM, the 500 block of the Jay Street area will be closed off as numerous non-for-profit organizations gather to make a difference in our community, by joining forces in order to bring a diverse range of services to the homeless and needy families in the city of Rochester.

Located at 506 Jay St., in the heart of the city of Rochester, in one of the most challenged neighborhoods, the Transformation Center, will be hosting this event.

Last year, the Day of Care brought over 300 homeless individuals to the Transformation Center for services. Unity Health, Foodlink, AIDS Rochester, Suny Brockport, and Wellcare were some of the organizations that had a major role in making the first Day of Care such a success.

Elizabeth Gonzalez, Program Development Director for the TC said, “This year’s goal is to provide a long term solution for problems these individuals may be facing as well as to reinforce the Transformation Center’s presence in the Rochester community.”

With an estimated 1500 individuals and families to attend this year, the 2nd Annual Day of Care is sure to make an impact. During this years event, families in need will receive a hot meal, a new set of clothing, a hair cut, general medical and dental evaluations, a snack pack and a toiletry pack to take with them, all free of charge. They will be treated to live music performed by signed hip- hop artist, Kre8tor, dance performances, speakers and a special skate show. In addition, there will be children’s activities such as a bounce house, kids games, and even a mini basketball tournament for the youth.

A number of organizations have agreed to come on board again this year and support the Day of Care, organizations such as AIDS Rochester, and Foodlink, Wellcare and Wegmans. New organizations have also joined forces this year, like Eastman Dental Community Dentistry, The American Heart Association and Target, among others.

Along with having their physical needs met, families will be provided with Community Resource information from organizations such as Compass Care, Reformers Anonymous, Pathways to Peace and The Veterans Outreach Center to name a few. They will also receive an encouraging message delivered by Pastor Stephen Galvano, Founder and Senior Pastor of Rochester Christian Church Ministries.

The Transformation Center is an outreach ministry of RCCM, located in Gates. It will serve as an after school program center for underprivileged children and youth. According to Pastor Stephen Galvano, “ The vision of the Transformation Center is just that – to transform lives, and the Day of Care is a time where we can all unite and make a difference in the city of Rochester by practicing the slogan of ‘Giving Hope, Building Dreams and Sharing Jesus.’”
